Parador de Sos del Rey Católico

Spain – Aragón – Zaragoza – Sos del Rey Católico
Aragonese-style mansion
3-star
The Parador de Sos del Rey Católico, with its garden, stone walls and wooden balconies, fits in well with this small medieval town in Navarre, to the southeast of Pamplona. Among the historic buildings of Sos, declared a Historical-Artistic Area, are a number of old churches and the Sada Palace, the birthplace of Ferdinand of Aragón – hence the name of the town. There are views across the foothills towards the Pyrenees, and the nearby Yesa reservoir is a popular place for sailing and swimming. The Parador conserves the monumental, historical and artistic atmosphere of the town, and in the regal and elegant interior wood and Castilian-style furniture is much in evidence, adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant offers such local dishes as rabbit escabechado (a sauce with vinegar and bay), Ternasco a la Aragonesa (roast suckling lamb) and Bacalao al ajo arriero (salt cod cooked with peppers, potatoes and onion).
There is garage parking at this Parador.
In line with their policy of continuous improvement, Paradores de Turismo de España advise that this Parador will be closed from 2nd January 2010 until 12th February 2010.
