Parador de Fuente Dé

Spain – Cantabria – Fuente Dé
Modern hotel in the mountains
3-star
This comfortable modern mountain refuge, some 90 km southwest of Santander, is stunningly situated in the heart of the Picos de Europa, in the spectacular Cirque of Fuente Dé, the source of the River Deva – hence the name of the hotel: Río Deva. The Parador is surrounded by meadows, wooded slopes and soaring, rocky peaks, and is located at the foot of the cable car leading up to the magnificent Áliva viewpoint. Inside the hotel, the extensive use of wood, and the leather furniture create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This homeliness is enhanced by the traditional Calabrian cuisine on offer in the restaurant, featuring such dishes as Cocido lebaniego (a stew of pork, sausage, chickpeas and vegetables), Solomillo al queso de Tresviso (beef sirloin with local Tresviso cheese) and Lomos de venado con salsa de arándanos (venison served with bilberry sauce). As well as enjoying the energetic activities associated with the mountains – hiking, mountain biking, parapenting – visitors to the Parador de Fuente Dé will also find it an ideal base for exploring the picturesque villages and ancient monasteries of the region.
