To move the map up, down, left or right, you can either click on the arrow buttons to pan around, or you can drag the map with your mouse. You can double click on the centre button to reset the map as it was originally or use the left hand scale to zoom in and out of the map. You can zoom into any region by clicking on the region name, and when you zoom in further, all the properties in that area will be displayed on the map using a symbol. Hovering the mouse over any of the symbols will reveal its name and if you click on a symbol on the map you can see brief details.
